Aug. 29. Tues
Got a nice letter from
Lura today and a postal from
Chattie and Carrie
Gould
sent me 3 or 4 numbers of Howard
Mosher's
"Duazyupleze Gazool" which were
clever and quite funny. Went around to Mrs. Baker's and found she had a still longer letter.
Lura is having the time of her
life, certainly and I am so glad. She says
Jack
(not "black jack" as it
looks) has an electric boat (I think it's gasoline) and took them for
a ride. She also told of
Christmaspartees trees, Indian parties and parades
&c. &c. &c. Its very gay there and the Happy Lady isn't in it
this time - but - well, never mind. Tonight Trudy
and I went down to Edith 's. Mother
came too (the last minute) and Miss Mays came
over and Elsie came home and us and
we all played flinch and ate pears and
listened to the music box - no rain till after we got home.
Aug 30. Wed.
A very hot and uncomfortable day.
Gilmore is having his trouble about
getting away next week. J.G. goes to
Lake Mohonk
in the morning. & J.W. intended to go. but after Gilmore gave up all his ar- rangements,
encluding rooms engaged at
Saratoga &c he changed his mid & told
Gilmore to go! He was telephoning his
wife (at the lake) when I left. Trudy and I went to see
LuLu Glaser in her first night as "Miss Dolly
Dollars" (Theodore Shipherd called on Mother when we were out.)
