Fine. Almost went to church, but instead took Harper's & went to Maplewood Park. Rode down with Miss Barnum who told me all the latest news from her family & the Rices & Dumbles (Mrs. Alexander told me the other day they were at Hay Island this summer). Read a nice story on the river brick & took the long walk below the brick (fast - it takes 45 minutes). The sun was quite warm & everything looked beautiful. Took a bath before dinner and made blue prints as long as the sun lasted. Then read, up stairs, & later read wrote & "music-ed "down stairs. Sept. 17 Mon. Fine day. Mother not feeling well at noon cleared off table & made her promise to go to bed. At night found her quite sick with a high fever. Meta telephoned for Dr. Davis for me and he came & prescribed Tellurium. Sept. 18. Tues. She was better as to fever. Came in to my room on the sofa. Her bowels troubling her - I telephoned the Dr. & he came again about 11:30 & gave her new medicines which he promised wd. do the business at
