over. It is charming. Just before
supper Alice & I took a
beautiful walk up "Plummer's Hill" (past the church - way
up to the fork of the road - Then called on a Mrs
Hanies formerly a doctor in Lewiston)
& her little daughter
Gladys - who live alone in a little old house on the
side of the mountain. Bed at 8:30!
Aug. 28 Tues.
Came down with
Percy Kimball
& the cows! - a pretty picture. Felt fine after 10 hours
sleep! It was a gorgeous morning - Rushed around and took a few
pictures I wanted. And later
Nan took "Phyllis" (the little fast
horse) and a runabout and we two went for most delightful drive - Down
South Waterford
way and up over the curved side of
Bear Mountain, with lovely views of the lake and village, and
around the lake down a big hill on the east side and past a fine old
Mansion - Still lovlier views of the lake! Then turned thro' a dense
wood - path - a most beautiful bit - but went steep in one place -
from some menfixing it. Came out on "Rice's Hill" and met
some of the hotel people.
Miss Stratford, the Yitta Hella,
Miss Fanning, Miss
Lawrence.Mrs S' friend & Mr.
Fanning. Had quite a chat - They were returning from a six
mile walk - (an ideal day for it.) Went round
Rice's Hill and just at the other side - above the house where
the balsam pillows
over. It is charming. Just before
