In the evening Papa read to us & I trimmed a hat. Jun. 23 Sat. Rain this a.m. So J.W. didn't go to Buffalo & Toronto, as he planned. Saw a Mercedes ($10000.00) car here (going thro') We were very busy. I left about 1:20 & lunched at Sibley's with Edith & Bess Hutchison (accidental) and a waitress shrieked dropped her tray & fell - Some said she was dead, but the doctors seemed to be working over her when we left. As that's the way Bess Hutchison will probably die someday, it was rather harrowing. Had a letter from Gilmore & a postal from Chat (This is opening day at the Ojibway) Did some shopping and then came home & rode Diana out to the Park for the Auto. sports &c &c. but it had been put off 2 weeks on acct. of the rain this a.m. Lots of people there and it looked gay & festive tho' & didn't rain. Came home, cleaned my wheel, read up stairs and had a long call from Mrs. Chillingsworth - our cat admirer - she came to see them. Zozie, especially, showed off beautifully. Later & wrote & did accts. and figured out my summer trip, I expect now to take Aug 20 to Sept 13. Alice says a friend of Nan's will be the other guest
