Came home to find poor dear Mother much worried I over Zenda &c. We went over to Baker's this evening & saw their new wall paper, played flinch & Mrs. Farnsworth & her son (who did live up stairs) were there for a little while - cold. Apr. 17 Wed. Had symptoms of grip this p.m. Staid down to lunch (?) went over to Dr. Grant's but he wasn't home. Bad sore throat tonight & woke Apr. 18 Thur. up with left eye much inflamed. Went to Dr's. this p.m. He seemes very nice (my first visit) Tonight bathed my eye & played solitaire went to bed early - fearful sore throat in the night Apr 19 Fri. Went to the office (cold better) but decided not to use my eye any more so didn't go in p.m. Lunched with Father & Bess H. at Sibley's - Walked up to Lillian's & met Hamilton & had a little visit. L. had taken the baby to have her picture taken - it being Helen's birthday &c. I went home. Mother's sweep-lady hadn't come so I did the dining room and then we settled down. Papa read aloud tonight - Bed early Apr 20 Sat. More sore throat &c. tonight was a week this morning & staid in bed - Dearest Mother waited on me and Zozo staid with me - The Dr. came at noon & changed my medicine & said my eye was better(!) this p.m. dear little sick Zenda cuddled & purred but she can't eat - a must pathetic little object - we are all just sick about her. Got up about 6:30. Lura came over in the evening - the dear.
