once. She was comfortable, so I left her at 2:15 & went to the office. Papa came home early when I got home she was worse instead of better I telephoned the Dr. again. He said "increase the dose", also used Blackberry brandy. Mother sick all night. I dressed at 10:30 to call Dr. Neefus
but Sept. 19. Wed.
she wouldn't let me. I did, however, soon after 8 this morning and he came right over. Said it was 'Autumnal dysentery" and gave her new medicine & new prescriptions &c. &c. I tried to get Mrs. Cooper to come & stay, but she couldn't. Did the things he told me for Mother myself - (the douche relieved her greatly) and finally left her this p.m. with Julie
(whom Meta lent me) & Papa to care for me. Found her better when I came home, but things rather in a hubbub. Straightened them out, got our suppers &c. &c. Big dinner party at Meta's - Teall serving. Claude 'phoned me about a girl Mrs. Geo. Hollister can send tomorrow. Ironed tonight. This morning Claude came with a bunch of little pinkey-white roses which "Henry sent to his Grandmother!" Sept. 20 Thurs. Up early, to get breakfast &c. very tired. Mother some better but very weak. Phoned the doctor & got his directions for the day. It rained hard this a.m. but cleared later. Mary Ward came about 8:30 - a nice red headed Irish girl. Left Mother in her care & went to office - GCB & I came home to a good dinner at noon. I got supper at night. Clean clothes came. Slept some better tonight.
