Capered with Herbert & Nan up by the Shanty and in the pine lane - they ran races &c and Barbara rode the cow "Miss O'Connor from pasture to barn. "Trilby" is the other cow, and "Peggy" her calf. Had a pleasant evening too, Cousin Carrie and Harriette

both spent it with us. (H.

rather used up). Oct. 22 Sun. Be-au-ti-ful, sunny morning. The foliage is magnificent. I was up in time for a long walk before breakfast (with Rally). Down under the cliff there's a pretty path by the river (took its pictures) and on top too. Did some photographing and drank in the sweet crisp air. After breakfast Alice went with me for a long ride and a lovely visit - the best yet. The sun went under with but the foliage and the mountains and road and "kills" were unbelievably beautiful. We went out the Catskill road - thro' two covered bridges - by high falls - thro' a lovely wild road and over Mt. Airy. The carpet of leaves was like a Persian prayer
