the wanderer who had spent the summer with them - who had a "past" and now had gone to the far northwest. I lent her "The Divine Fire" - 6 negatives and the "World's Work". After she had gone I rested, read a little, dressed and got a delicious supper of beefsteak & onions (dinner warmed up) Went to bed rather early - but read &c. Sept. 25 Mon. Quite cold but still lovely. J.W. still away & J.G. "fractious" & "cocky" about his P.O. regulations. Zo & Zen lovely. Miss Scott
has gone up to Cro'nest to stay till Nov. Claude & Char went down to Pultneyville to visit the Walter Smiths one day last week. I went to the library tonight after supper cut up pumpkin, wrote, & Papa read aloud. Sept. 26. Tues. Nice day - Stopped at the Erie Station to- night & met Edith Andrews. Dr. Miller was with her - just from Presbytery. We walked up and she stayed all night - Nice chat before the fire - I read her Edith H's wedding day letter and she told me all about her college plans &c. She's a "Senior" this year - Frieda Behn left last night (with Theo.) for Auburndale. Sept. 27 Wed. Didn't sleep first rate. It was a dark morning and thing went rather "hitchety - switchety" today.
