Sept 2nd Mon. Labor Day Dark and sultry - a sort of an aimless day so far. Have been down town - over to Mrs. Rowe's (to talk about Hamilton's flat) to Mrs. Caring's (to greet Elsie) to Behn's (to see Herma's things) &c. Yesterday, then I went over to Davis's and saw Katherine - Chat (just back from the White Mountains) and Frank, Lilian, Frances, Lura, "Marie" &c Saturday - one last half - holiday - we had a lovely ride. Mother, Miss Garfield, Ethel & Carol Flack, Miss Bradshaw, Edith & I went to Brockport on the canal (on the "H.C. Brown") We sat up in the bow with steamer rugs, boxes of candy, veils, sweaters, & hilarity and had quite a gay - and a very pleasant journey. We stopped 10 minutes or so at Spencerport - saw the Barge canal, the new trolly and the Italians got to Brockport about 7 and supped at the Gilbert House (not very good) Mother & Miss G. went on the first train but the rest of us went down town & bought postals & missed it. I told fortunes with cards in the station while we waited -Alice went to sleep coming home. Friday night Mabel Rogers & I dined at Lura's & had a very good time and Thursday Mary (just back from Lake George) and Mabel spent the evening here. Last Sunday we went up to Cro'nest &c.&c.
