A perfectly gorgeous
morning, too lovely to stay in so tho' I was rather tried I set forth
to explore Glen Haven which I haven't seen in years - It is
certainly not improved - being a row of Coney Island places
"hots" &c. with free open air vaudeville afternoons. So I got on a
boat, as the bay was beautiful and breezy and going up to Sea
Breeze had a most interesting conversation with the
blonde and sunburned boy who steered. He's putting himself thro'
college this way expecting to go to Cornell next year.
He's been on Keuka lake, too, & is for the water
evidently, but not to be a sailor. He discussed Connolly and
Kipling & has a soft low voice and perfect manners
and is a Soldier-of-fortune sort of a fellow. At sea
breeze I sat on the bluff awhile in the breeze and the
Sunshine and read
Harpers, and got in just in time for dinner via. trolley.
Spend most of the p.m. upstairs reading, but had a call from
Dolores and Frieda on the piazza this eve.
Jun. 25 Mon.
Busy day and was very tried tonight & late getting home, but
Papa had tickets to the
Silver Slipper so we went and it was quite amusing (same
Co. as Floradora) They had the champagne
dance and other good ones and sang "Zanzibar"
Gertrude Millington, the Rochester girl, was cute.
