Aug. 16. Wed. This morning paper says Charella was married last night to Mr Burr! I've been thinking it wd. be about the middle of August. It was "very quiet" &c. I think they went to the mountains. Today was lovely, but no race as it was very rough (everyone seasick) and little wind. I rode over to Mrs. Baker's before supper and then up to Cro'nest and called on Mrs. Wilkinson and Mal and the children, who we "keeping house" while Claude and Char are at Mt. Desert. It was beautiful there, after a late supper I read &c. Aug. 17. Thurs. Another beautiful day and the "Iroquois" won a swift race. We are terribly proud and now it's even again. Mother went down to Summerville with me tonight. It was much more bright and festive than Monday, with Yachts lighted and inhabited. The river alive with motor boats &c. &c. and the Yacht club gay - dancing and singing. They had a life saving - breeches buoy - exhibition and fireworks at Charlotte (besides the regular illumination) and the
