Oct. 20. Fri.Alice & Nan went to the shanty in mackin toshes and this morning it
poured. the worst way - and it was good
thing for we couldn't have gone to
Mead's anyway as planned, on account of the sick people.
We resigned ourselves to a good time, indoors, and had it - Chats,
reading, photos, visits, &c. &c. Such a lovely house and a
still lovelier family. When the doctor came in the late forenoon I
borrowed rubbers, Mackintosh and umbrella and took quite a long walk -
down on the stone dock (now deserted) and up thro the winding village
streets - which are quite picturesque. (no Kodak weather or I showed have snapped some) In the
afternoon I took another walk - to the P.O. with Nan. It stopped
