1906.
Oct. 20 Sat. Another fine day. The foliage has changed so since Tuesday, & yesterday's rain brought down lots of leaves. Shopped a little tonight. Saw Chattie & Helen in Sibley's - going to Mrs. Crouche's at Sea Breeze for a week. Mrs. Ramsdell has sold Warner Castle to the State Hospital for Dr. Howard to live in! Wrote & held Zozie & read a little tonight. Oct 21. Saturday A beautiful morning, but some clouds - rather thick about 9, but cleared off fine later. Had breakfast at 8 & took the 9:30 Canandaigua car with Ethel & Carol Flack, two lunch boxes, two cameras and a pair of field glasses. We rode beyond Bushnell's Basin and the Powder Mills to Walston & found ourselves at a road - only - but spied a lovely hill in the distance - over toward the right and finally climbed it, via the road, a butternut tree, a ploughed ground, a cornfield, a meadow, a hickory nut tree and two wire fences. The views were fine and the cloud shadows & tree colors made them more so. On top we prowled around - gazed thro' glasses - posed - studied the map & found out where we were (800 ft. up) &c.&c. Were very leisurely - coming down & we stopped in the cornfield, and shucked hickory nuts and Carol carved them. We proceeded up to "Powder Mills" and into a lovely private road. And finally branched off thro' an orchard where I found
