Was used up still, but managed
the office in the morning. Edith spent the
afternoon with us & stayed to supper. Trudy tired too.
Sun. Aug 18.
We went over to Davis's this p.m. but so many people were
there we didn't do much real visiting. Trudy saw
Frances. Char was here to dinner & for a nice visit (Claude is in
Boston) and we went to Lura's to supper and had a nice visit there.
Swinburne
is in Nantucket
& Mrs. Boyce is in town.

Lunched with Edith at the Samovar. She is living at
Harry's now.
Trudy left Tuesday. Haven't been
very busy. Alice Bradshaw away &
Miss McAffrey has a new beau (John
Grady) Today Ethel Flack
& I lunched downtown and then went out to
Gracie Bingham's. Found her not feeling very well.
Mrs. Lewis very charming & the Baby
Meredith a dear. We had the usual visit - the
Lewises leave for Mansfield
Pa (normal school) next week. Mr. C.
drove us to the car (after an out-of-door supper) tonight. I am so
sorry for
Gracie. Her poor old father is a
pathetic object and Percy
rather an incompetent, I
imagine - she lives a lovely life and doesn't get over her
Arthur
's death. My Claude got home last night.
