Harry Backus's troubles. Very sleepy by 10! Nov. 26 Sun I never woke up till Mother called me at 8:30. It was beginning to rain & was nice indoors - but after breakfast &c.&c. I put on short skirt, rubbers & a rain coat & my old hat and went for a walk. First to Cro'nest where I had a nice visit with Char & about an hour (Claude was working on a competition at the office.) She's just back from N.Y. & had lots to tell. Went up into "Page's" room & saw grandfather's mahoganized chair &c. Then I walked up thro' Highland Park (not a sole in sight) and 'way thro' Highland Ave. to Monroe! It poured a good deal of the time but there was a cinder path. It was sweet - the air - and fragrant with earthy smells. Stopped a minute at Davises- I was so near. Hamilton showed me the plan of the "hotel". Edith Scott has taken some stock. It actually cleared off as I was coming home! Ate lots of (good) dinner & then read the new Century nearly through - an- other shower about sunset. Wrote after supper. The "Potter" Bldg. of the Orphan Asylum is all down.
