Nov. 5 Sun. A beautiful mild sunshiney Nov. morning. I phoned Mary and she was "more than willing" and we met and went down to the river Gorge walk. The new-old one just re-made by the Park Commission and most beautiful. It goes down by the ruins of the old Glen House and winds along the river - coming out (after a couple of miles, I should say) at Ridgeway Avenue. We were over two hours and it was delightful. The visit, too, and sitting on benches imagining it was our estate and "swapping philosophy". The tree trunks show now - real, like Hans Anderson's - and the rocks are green and pink and gray and there are tiny green ferns among the dead leaves. We walked part way back on the upper path. Then took the car in time for dinner. Mary's at the Deaf Mute Institute now and told her experiences. The rest of the day I loafed and read. Finished "The Garden of Allah" - Boris' confession is the best thing in it. Nov. 6. Monday A very very busy day. Late getting home and then Mary 'phoned me
