Oct. 31 Tues. Mary came in today to say she'd "got a job" down at the deafmute in- stitute - beginning tomorrow. Busy. Nov. 1-2 Wed-Thur Uneventful. Hamilton is back. Says Jack

and Mr. Sing both inquired particularly (and ex- clusively) for me. "Miss Avery" left the Pointe on the next boat after Hamilton. It seems to be "all off." flinch these nights. I've beaten Mother the third match. New magazines. Nov. 3 Fri.

Had a visit with HAD.
Claude & Char's wedding day - 3 yrs ago. Sort of cloudy and a little rain today. They went for a drive. Staid down with Papa and lunched at Sibley's with Mr. & Mrs. Ed Chapin. Had a shampoo at Mrs. Torner's tonight. Rain. Nov 4. Sat. Went around by the station (to the "Y" with Collier's) and saw a thousand High School people going to Syracuse for a football game. Mr. & Mrs. Gilmore went Chaperoning nine! It turned out fine by afternoon. I was terrifically busy. J.W. goes to N.Y. Tues Weds day and Tuesday is Election and J.G. in the midst of the campaign. Shopped a little tonight and later wrote, "figured" &c. (Reg. Sat. night.)
