and Helen at the "Y" - came
home, changed and wrote furiously - Now I eat and read &c. till
bed Had a chat with Amelie,
John & the children
Oct. 16 Mon.
Very busy - Lura has a lovely plan that I shall go to
N.Y. over Sunday with her after a visit at
Malden (and so use an excursion ticket!) I'm
afraid it won't work - flinch tonight.
Oct. 17 Tues.
Cloudy, but not bad for
Cornelia Robinson's wedding day (also
Miss Dinehart's, as we learned later')
Burgess was here and came in to
see me, bringing a letter to read from a girl who addressed one of his
characters in the Ladies' Home Journal stories. It was so
funny and (pathetic) I copied it - He's going to answer it.
Claude came in later to say he had
decided to go N.Y. tomorrow - with me and later
Herb Caswell came in for a
little visit - He had stopped off at
Rochester between Buffalo and
Geneva
"to get something good to eat"
Oct 18. Wed.
Nice morning - Dressed up and
put up my lunch & went to the office and "opened the mail" and saw
J.G. safely off and then went
myself at 10:30 (J.W. very nice!)
Claude and Papa were at the station - I got my
suitcase checked and C & I found
a nice seat (double) in a day coach and were glad we
