warm here - I
took a long ride - over by the market &c. tonight - Saw
Miss Buck on Clarissa St.
Bridge. We watched 5 canoeists coming down the river -
Read, sewed talked & wrote tonight.
Sun. Oct. 1
Another lovely day. Was very
sleepy this morning but woke us in time to start off about 10:30 or so
with Kodak &c. but noDiana. as it was hot day - Went down to the
Holy Sepulchre Cemetery and thro' it and down behind
to a wood where crows were cawing and on down a lovely little path
where young priestlings walked - I took the path's picture but not the
priests'. I sat on the river bank - when I got to it - and read the
McClures -Then strolled back - and came across the quiet
stagnant pool - with the one poplar which Herbert Caring had spoken of - It was noon then - but
rather weird none the less. I took its picture. It was hot - coming up
- and burry - but I didn't mind. It's so sweet to be outdoors. I
walked partway down - to the maple row & then took the car.
Loafed most of the afternoon - rather useless.
Mon. Oct. 2.
A really rainy day or afternoon
- quite unusual for at 1:15 or so our church was struck by lightning!
and by night it was a humid drizzle - worked late, too.
