tonight. We sat next to Edith and Miss Mays. It was very entertaining and pretty. Also very long. The scenes were the Thames at Henley and a Paris cafe - both fine, accurate and familiar. There were many suggestions of "The Yankee Consul", especially in the private secretary. Aug. 31. Thurs. Rain and clouds this morning, but a lovely afternooon. Mother and Trudy went to Pittsford this morning and to Maplewood Park this p.m. Tonight we staid home - all rather tired - played flinch (Trudy gave us a new pack) and talked. Sept. 1. Fri. Trudy went this a.m. I staid down to lunch (with Ed. Chapin in the Mogridge Block) Had a visit with Geo. Humphrey and tonight wrote letters. Called on Mrs. Baker - but only a minute. Sept. 2. Sat. J.W. left on the Empire for Utica, (Adirondacks - private car &c.) so we had another half - holiday. It rained just after I got home and kept it up, so I had a nice time up in my room reading. Late in the p.m. Claude came (he got home Thursday night and Char Friday) and I had a lovely visit with him - over the Mt. Desert maps &c. In the evening I went to the theatre with Laura & Mary
