quite a visit
before the girls came
Mary, Nellie and
Edith,
later Charlotte
& Kittie
Crichton, and later still
Matie. We had a nice supper of course
and a very jolly time. I am so glad Lura is going & think she is!
Aug. 14. Mon.
Today the Canadian Yacht
"Temeraire" won the second race. "Iroquois"
won the first Saturday. A good breeze and everyone euthusiastic. It
was a nice day so (tho' we stayed late) Ethel and
Carol Flack and I took our
lunches and went to
Summerville and saw all the pretty
yachts - home and visiting - and heard the wind whistle and watched
the big breakers and ate our supper and got home at ten - It was refreshing.
Aug 15 Tues.Lura says now Chattie
Davis has decided to go to St.
Helena (last night). "but she has all day to change her
mind". I shall be lonesome without Lura, who leaves tonight. It began to rain hard
tonight (this p.m. just after another "Temeraire" race,
rather but Mother and I went over to
Davis's to hear Helen's last letter and to see if
Chattie was going. She was and
so was Hamilton! He decided at 7:30
and they left with us about 9. It poured - and
when Mrs. Baker & Laura
left Charlotte at 11:30 neither boat was in!
