walked about
town - I took her picture "Waiting at the church" at the gates of the old
Corning place. Went up "South
Avenue" to a most picturesque cobblestone church and
bought film and postals &c. and then walked back. Took "Ma Wright's" picture with some day-old
duck. Then sat in the sun, I reading and Nelliesleeping. While we were at dinner
Mary got back, rather tired, but full of news from
"the great city." After a visit we left her in the swing to rest and
Nellie and I walked to the Lake
(nearly 4 miles)! It was a gorgeous day and a lovely walk. We saw
Charlotte,
Manitou &c also a boat going out (with the
glasses) We carved our initials on a log & finally sauntered
homeward again. The old grove was deserted today - The lake is very lovely there. coming
back we picked apple blossoms enough for me to take home and after
supper I started (on the 7:21) walking to
Webster, which made about 10 miles tonightday. Got in about 8 and home betimes - for
a little visit with my "folks" (we had to "swap yarns" about
Decoration Day) and a hot bath before welcome bedtime.
Jun. 1 Sat.
A cloudy day - very threatening
but didn't rain. Symptoms of not getting thro' at the office in time,
but we managed it. Met Mother and I
went to lunch with her at
