Sun. Nov. 4. A glorious day. Walked up to Cro'nest & had a walk & talk with Char (to Highland Park &c.) We talked "philosophy" &c. Then I saw dear Henry awhile & chatted with Miss Jones about Lillian's baby (got some advice for her) Then had a nice visit with Claude who sent me Burgess' "Romance of the Commonplace" old) told me about his trip to New York. After dinner I read an hour (that book is a "corker") and then dressed & went to Manhattan St. Had a nice visit with Kitty Crichton & Mrs. Olin before the Davis's came & then saw "Miss Frances undressed put to bed. She is a sweet. Came home & read & took a bath. Finished "The Fighting Chance" - such a heroine!! Mon. Nov. 5 Fine. Ordered chyrsanthemums &c. for Mrs Davis's 50th anniversary & went tonight with Father & Mother. All the children were there but Kate - who didn't arrive from Spain as expected. Had a nice long chat with the Skipper (Sing offers $100 for Mandalay) and Mr. Graham Prof. Van Ingen, Mary Mosher, Mary Mac, Chattie &c.&c. Everybody seem to have a good time. Home about ten.
