July 3. Mon. Clear and warm - Shopped early (a book for Edith 's birthday) had a little visit with Frank Davis and opened lots of mail before Gilmore got there (from the lake) Was busy all day (back at noon - F. & W. for photos at night &c.) Wrote, took a bath &c. this eve. July 4. Tues. Cloudy and warm. I went down to the office and opened up a lot of mail. J.G. & J.W. came in and about 9:15 Mr. Anderson of the Auto. Co. came and had a long session with them. Meanwhile I got thro' a lot of my accumulated work, but don't see light yet. They went about 10:30 but I staid an hour longer, then went home, dressed up in white duck &c. and went up to Char 's to lunch. We three sat out in the porch, and later out under the trees for a long time, with Putzi and Carl. About 3:30 I went over to South Avenue and took the car to Davis'. They were just coming back from the 4th of July ( Mt. Hor ) sports, and Frank had won a "married man's" prize. Lilian's mother Mrs. Mackey, is here - Looks like Lilian. We sat on the piazza. Mrs. D. , Chatie & I, and later Hamilton, for a long time, visiting and watching the people come & go. I staid to supper "cause they had ice cream", and then after a little session
