Soon after dinner I dressed up and walked over to call on Frank & Lillian Davis & Kittie Crichton - who leaves for California tomorrow. She was amusing as usual (in a Kimono) F. & L. showed me their nice back piazza and then went up with me to see Chattie just home from The Ojibway opening. (Geo.

was there) She told all about it - most interesting - (also the nice things "Truthful John" - said about me -!) She evidently enjoyed the trip. July 2 Mon. Pleasant. Did some shopping at noon, saw Mary &c. (was invited down to Edith's by Bess H.) and had "an evening at home" July 3. Tues. Edith's birthday - gave her one of Henderson's book of Mays, "Children of good Fortune" & a corset cover (I'd outgrown !) Tonight Mary, Nellie & I went down there. Sat on the piazza with her & Bess H. & Mame D. awhile talking & then went in and ate birthday cake (with candles!) It rained when we went home - (& we dressed up) and simply poured later on. J.W.C was going to Toronto, but didn't, the last minute. July 4 Wed. I woke up to hear it still raining hard but all the family said it would surely clear - and it certainly looked like it a little later - so I started for Oswego & when the train went at quarter of 10 - the sun was shining - we had a fast ride - I read "Fenwick's Careers" - and
