square table in the inner dining room. Soon a nice looking young couple were seated with us and proved to be Mr. & Mrs. Duncan C. Lee of Ithaca, most charming table companions. He was professor of Oratory at Cornell till 6 years ago when he began editing the Ithaca News. She had danced with Harry Wilkinson. Knew Teresena Peck & Gene Andrews &c. &c. &c. After dinner wrote to Mother & went to bed at 10 pretty tired, leaving the majority sitting about by the wood fires &c. June 28. Wed. Slept like a top. Saw Papa walking by, early, but didn't get up. It had stopped raining & cleared off during the day. The clouds were lovely all day. Had breakfast at 8:30 (after a little walk) with the Lees - who requested it last night, but we found we were seated permanently, any way. Took a walk down into the woods, among the tents and cottages also down in front, to the summer house, and took Mr. & Mrs. Elkins' picture standing on a little peninsula. About ten (after meeting a lot more people) we went to the meeting in the parlor. Found the meeting very interesting, especially Mr. Peters on the Libel Law and the Annie Oakley case. They adjourned just in time for lunch (which was very elegant, as usual) and afterward we loafed and visited and some went to drive and at 3 o'clock we went down to the little gasoline launch - 16 of us and a baby and took a lovely two-hour trip
