about them. Stopped and listened (outside) to Rev. Rob Collyer
preaching in Sage Chapel and then Papa
smoked a cigar under a tree near
Sage. It was all so beautiful! Then
we walked up East Avenue
(back north again) and found we
had passed the Duncan Lees house. & as Papa was rather tired I agreed to meet him
at the hotel for supper and he went back saying he'd stop and call,
and I went on over a still higher bridge (just below the reservoir)
and then back and around the edge of the reservoir - a mile or more -
thro' the most beautiful woodsy path to the "upper glen".
A lovely walk. Coming back, I turned off 'cross lots
over a hill which brought me down thro' the Agricultural
College, duck and chicken farm - cows - horses &c. Down by
Cascadilla (a most picturesque spot) I met Papa coming up. He said the
Lees insisted we should come back to supper - were
very cordial &c.&c. So of course we did and had it on the
lovely piazza (next the President's House) with
Boardman Lee (3) and Nancy
Lee (2) very charming children. Their parents even improve
