As we walked into the waiting room who should rise up and greet us but Rae Willard, on her way to Little Falls to join Charlie Rasey and his mother, go to Mon- treal with them & sail for Europe! Return- ing in the Fall, just before Ralph
goes for his Cecil Rhodes scholarship at Oxford. She was hilarious. Going up on the Adirondack train I met a number of the Editors, Mr & Mrs. Elkins of Bath, who were very pleasant, and a lot of detached men. It was a pretty ride. I read the magazines & ate Peter's chocolate. We changed at Lake Clear about 6:30 (very threatening) and at Lower Saranac, where over a hundred of us got off, it poured. A lot of omnibuses & were there & we finally got safely to the big hotel, with bell boys & umbrellas to help us up the steps. We were soon assigned very comfortable, but rather small, rooms, we're fronting the lake (46) on the first floor and Papa's opposite. Got ready for dinner and finally had it, about 8 or half past - at a nice
