May 5 Sat. Fine again, but rather cool. One of the houses opposite is just about done - Mother and I went through several of them the other night. Today I got "Pam Decides" (the sequal to "Pam") which I like even better. It takes me right into my old haunts in London - and has m quite the atmosphere - to me - and Pam herself is as interesting as ever. Read tonight, of course, and wrote & figured, and had music. I love my Stella music box. May 6 Sun. A regular May morning (but it is a late Spring.) Went down to Seneca Park and watched the cute bears (3) and other animals and walked all down thro' the woods & back along the river. The dogwoods and other white blossoms are out - over on the opposite bank one could trace the priests' walk among the trees. The wind came up strong. Got home just in time for dinner. Edith came later, and staid to supper. I was up late, reading "Pam Decides", which I finished. Enjoyed it too. May 7. Mon. Quite cool. Mary came up tonight and a little later Nellie and still later Herb Caswell, just from Malden. He says Edith had an operation for appendicitis a week ago Saturday and later we had a letter from Con about it and saying Harriette
had been sick 5 weeks with
