Feb. 16 Friday
A fine winter's day and a
busy one. Claude
went to
N.Y. tonight - to be the guest of
Whitney Warren
at the Beaux Arts Dinner on Monday. Went to the theatre
"college widow" tonight with Herma
and Frieda.
F. is getting very large - like her
mother - but looked very beautiful with sweeping white plumesdown her
hair, and lace and furs. Herma did
too - in wise colored velvet and white feather boa - but she hasn't
the "style". The play was very funny. Every seat was filled. It was
like a lot of George Ade's fables all going on at
once.John &
Ameliecame up in the car with us and
we were quite jolly - also the Cregan Lansings.
Feb. 7 Sat.Gilmore has been sick two days but
down for a little while. J.W. floating
in and out. He soon leaves for California. I
stayed and worked with Miss Flack
till after six. Stopped and got my new silk petticoat which I wore tonight
in honor of Alice Roosevelt's Wedding day (The papers are
full of that) Tonight went to see Gillette in
"Clarice" with Laura. The MacArthurs
(3) Edith & Miss
Maise
out with us. It was inexpressively lovely. So
perfect one wants to sit slent thinking about it - so dainty, so sweet, so
pathetic, so tragic, so real and so dear. His
best of the "Professor" - kind. I hope I shall remember it long.
