insisted that Charlotte kissed me in the hall (which she did not.) Promised to visit Ned & Edithtomorrow. Had two calls from each at the office today. When I got home did my cash, wrote, mended gloves &c. &c. till "a late hour." Dec. 15 Sun. Warmish. Went down to Mary's on my wheel this noon, but it was rather muddy in spots. Had a chat just after she got home from church. Soon after dinner I walked down to Ned's, where I found Frederica & Edith. We talked & ate nuts & sang (!) &c all the rest of the afternoon. I stayed to tea. Frank
 came soon after & I left. Went up with Frederika & met Lizzie McCurdy at the corner. Saw her home (to Mrs. Bottum's) & had a nice little chat. Read later. Dec. 16. Mon. Pleasant. Charlottethinks Ned & F.D have had a sort of a quarrel. Walked up Main St. with Charlotte & Frank & stopped to see Ned. Sat by the fire (of crackling wood) & lounged on the davenport till 8:45 tonight. Then went over & saw Ned off for New York. Only Edith was there - Quite cold again.
