he saw the purser of the North King today - & he sent regards. He is studying to be a priest! Editharrived before I had eaten supper. She was very much out of sorts about something - but recovered later - We played euchre and told fortunes till after nine. Mary didn't come - I found out, afterwards, that it was because Jack Ballagh staid & Mr. Teall & another friend came and then Warren Fisk and Harry Severance & then Frank Davis! and staid till 11 o'clock! 7 wheels stacked there. I think Nellie will have to build her bicycle rest and call it "McCarty's Roost", as she threatens. I saw the girls off on the car - all in good humor. Sept. 18. Wed. Rained early this morning. Rode Diana down but couldn't ride her home this noon. Went shopping for things for my black dress waist. Green velvet &c. I also got a pretty lace edged insertion & fixed the box-plait on my black silk waist and made some points for the collar, tonight. Mama went to prayer- meeting and I read the magazines when I had finished sewing. Then took a bath. Mary was up this p.m. & we sat by the gas log fire.
