around the church yard in the lovely spring morning. Just before we
came out found a curious old stone inscribed, "Sidney
Breese,
June 9, 1767. Made by himself Ha,
Sidney, Sidney, Lyest thou here. O here lye Till time is
flown, To its exremity." We walked down to Aldrich
Court and tried to get into the office, but did not
succeed. Then went way down to the
Battery, where we took the 6th Ave. L
up to the Margaret Louisa. Met
Mrs. Jones there & we all went over to
Pier 59 & on board the Manitoba and thro'
the upper part of it before
Claude came. Found Aunt Lulie
up on deck. Claude came but
