#3 Kodak. I took a bath & got dressed & finished packing & Mama & Papa went to the station with me. The MacArthur's (Mary, Nellie, Emma & Alice) came & they all went to Charlotte with us. The nice purser - Mr. O'Donnell, gave us stateroom 34 - very pleasant indeed. Pretty soon Frank & Hamilton Davis appeared - on their wheels - and we had a jolly good-bye at last. The harbor looked fairy lifke with colored lights and reflections and the water was smooth. Mary & I sat on deck awhile & the purser talked to us, but finally we went to bed - very sleepy indeed - but for some mysterious reason it was impossible to sleep. The great wheel pounding and smashing the waves made a continual sleepless roar and rock. July 25. Thurs. In the middle of the night we stopped still and I looked out (& so did Mary) to see nothing but gray lake & sky. Then another light - queer sounds - ropes hauled-steps & shouts & a rush up stairs & laughter & people outside - then sleepy sounds. We found out afterward it was an excoursion party from Picton getting on from another boat at Brighton. We both had a little sleep the latter part
