July 2. Tuesday A lovely day. Took Mary's picture in her yard at noon. To-night went down to Edith's to take her birthday present "Around The Bonnie Briar Bush". Had a nice chat with the girls. Elsie was there a little while. Ned showed me her funny bathing suit, &c. &c. Finally I went home about 10. July 3. Wed. Still lovely. J.G's last day at home before vacation & a busy one. Stopped at Mary's for my camera &c. Read. Sewed this evening. July 4. Thurs. Hazy sun & quite a comfortable Fourth. Sewed all the a.m. (nearly) up in Claude's room. Commenced making a flannel waist for camping. Mary came over for a little while. Our park was full of flags, fire- crackers & torpedoes. After lunch I got on my wheel (Mary came) & we went to the Park. Sat on the hill seat - across from the club house - about an hour - "Vin" Gaffney came & talked to us. Then we went over & heard the band in the grove & then came back to the race track. Saw some of the road racers arrive - & went to the farther hill to watch the
