anchor line pier and saw the City of Rome, which sails at four. Saw
my "Tom Smith" of Thursday here - just going to sail! Then we
all took the 23rd St. car & went over to the ferry (to
Broadway, Brooklyn) and
then the Cypress Hills elevated. The
Willards got off at DeanGates Ave.
and we went on with Aunt Lulie,
to Cypress Hills (cemetary) and then took a
trolley car to Richmond Hill
& walked up to the house - which looked like its picture -
except the trees & shrubs &c. are much larger. Uncle sat waiting on the piazza - and
"Dora" (Miss Garfield) was brought out and we
went up in Auntie's room - and
after our lunch all over the house - parlor, dining room (and office)
Kitchen -& on 2nd, Auntie
& Uncle's rooms & library
& above, on 3rd "Dora's" & the
spare room & another little one. Then we went over the "grounds"
and walked around a big square - up past the
Lyman cottage & along the hillside & so back for a
long talk in the parlor before we went back. The sea breeze made me
very sleepy.
