tonight. Papa got home from Oswego. Thurs. Jan. 30.
6/26/42 Saw Will Sloan Jr & his wife (illegible) at Green Iris Their 20th wedding anniversary
A gray day & everybody's blue. Gilmore cross. Mary ditto I pensive & Ned very blue. She stopped for me tonight we had a walk up the hill. Claude is making a lovely house-plan for Will Sloan & Laidley Harris (Mrs. Sloan to be!) Read again tonight, JG. returns from Albany & Commission. Fri. Jan. 31. Things look brighter today. JG's last day as Commissioner for Cities of the 2nd Class. Finished up that work. Went with Ned to look at some nice rooms at Dr. Durand's at noon, then had a dinner in solitary splendor at Sibley's. Mary came up after supper & invited me to recital at the Genesee Valley Club. We didn't stay though. Then we went to Mr. Kettle's (new minister's) reception, where we find the Davis's & had a good time. Talked to them (Mrs. Frank & Charlotte) Mr. Kirk- Patrick, Louis Saunders, Miss Webster (Prof & daughter) Sam Griswold, Mrs. G., Mr. Kettle. &c.&c. Had chocolate, lettuce sandwiches & cake. When I got home wrote praise service invitations for Mama. Am invited to a tea. Cad & Esther Chapin. Sat. Feb. 1. The usual busy "first of the month." Awfully slippery & sloppy going down to hill
