Ned rode up home with me - after some
sweet peas - and Mary caught up
with us and rode around the park. It is fine weather for wheeling &
"Diana" goes like a bird since I fixed
her chain. The girls went to see DeWolf Hopper tonight.
They wanted me to go, but I'd seen "Dr. Syntax" & didn't.
Went up to Davis'. The boys were
at the play (in the gallery) and Charlotte off on her wheel. She came in, later, & I
had a nice visit with her - &
Helen and Mr. & Mrs. D. They
were making Helen an "opera cloak"
and a "bath robe". The girls went to the car with me when I went
home. Met Willie
at the corners.
Sept. 14. Sat.
A cold, slumberous night. My eyes felt heavy
all day - but it was a beautiful, cold, full day. J.W. got home from N.Y.
& the yacht races. He has been gone since the 7th
of August. This noon I met Charlotte,
& then
Edith, she went to Hovey's with me and I to
Brown's with her. Then I met Ned at
Gillis' & she rode nearly home with
me again. Stopped at Mary's, going
back this noon. Had a nice little chat, left some photographs and
she rode down with me. About quarter of five Ned & Helen Davis
1895.
