enjoyed very much - especially Charlotte's bright & original remarks. She is so
sweet and so clever & I do like her very much. We had lunch together
afterwards & spent the rest of the noon in a good long visit
over roast turkey - coffee & accessories.
Edith came up to ask me down tomorrow.
Jan. 5. Sun.Mama has a bad cold and it stormed
& was dark & blizzardy outside till afternoon - when it got very
cold. We all staid home this a.m. gathered about the cheerful wood
fire - (which we had last night too - when I lazily occupied the
davenport &
Papa read aloud. After dinner I bundled
up & went down to Ned's found
Frederica there, but she didn't
stay long. Ned & I went upstairs &
talked awhile about things. Then
Edith came & went down to tea
with Harry & Ida. I spent some of the evening - got
home about nine. Very cold.
Jan. 6. Mon.

Oswego &c.&c. J.G. is in Albany. Office pretty
