[They commenced painting the house today.] I rode back to the office with her this p.m. Came home early - as I felt badly - and took a bath before supper. Alice Mac.A. was up for my wheel afterwards & she and Nellie a little later, to borrow a book for Mary. Sept. 29. Sunday A cold rainy morning. Had breakfast comparatively early. Left Papa to baste the roast beef & tend the grate fire & Mama and I went to the station. Met Gordon there & we all went out into the train house to meet the 9:45 Pacific Express. Mrs. Hiram Sibley

got off & then Claude - as natural at a ever - but fatter and looking first rate - Of course we talked & talked or walked & Gordon saw us on to the street car & when we got home we spent the rest of the day - till 4 o'clock - talking and looking. He has 35 very interesting French posters - and about 100 finished pen & ink draw- ings & water colors - besides 3 sketch books full. Splendid. He brought me a pretty buckle and clasp of dark cut steel (I think.) It cleared up in the afternoon & I took his picture. Humphrey came up & then Ned. I walked with her "the back way" - over to Davis' and we were
