[They commenced painting the house today.] I rode back to the office
with her this p.m. Came home early - as I felt badly - and took a
bath before supper. Alice Mac.A.
was up for my wheel afterwards & she and Nellie a little later, to borrow a book for
Mary.
Sept. 29. Sunday
A cold rainy morning. Had breakfast comparatively early. Left
Papa to baste the roast beef &
tend the grate fire & Mama
and I went to the station. Met
Gordon
there & we all went out into the train house to meet the 9:45
Pacific Express.
Mrs. Hiram Sibley
got off & thenClaude - as natural at a ever - but fatter
and looking first rate - Of course we talked & talked or walked &
Gordon
saw us on to the street car & when we got home we spent the rest
of the day - till 4 o'clock - talking and looking. He has 35 very
interesting French posters - and about 100 finished pen & ink draw-
ings & water colors - besides 3 sketch books full. Splendid. He
brought me a pretty buckle and clasp of dark cut steel (I think.) It
cleared up in the afternoon & I took his picture. Humphrey came up & then Ned. I walked with her "the back way" - over
to Davis' and we were
1895.
