Nov. 24 Sun.
Slept till almost 9:30 - Don't feel much better. Staid home &
read the new
Harper all the morning. Caspar Whitney's articles
about the Northwest have begun - good. Felt so restless after dinner
that I thought I'd take a car & ride to
Brighton & walk in. Didn't see a Brighton
car however so walked out
East Avenue to Oxford and then
across to Charlotte's. The sunset
was gorgeous & of course I en- joyed it as I
always do. Mary came & we had
a nice chat over Charlotte's
scrapbook. Louie Saunders was there- and Frank. Rode back with Mary & found Ned had been here. Read accounts of football.
Nov. 25. Mon.
Poured. Gilmore treated to pumpkin
pie on our bet. Papa read aloud
tonight.
Claude called on Mary Hampton
who is here with "Sowing the Wind."
Nov. 26. Tues.
Pleasanter. Another pie tonight. Calls from
Ned & Edith. More reading tonight.
Nov. 27. Wed.
Clear & cool. Rode Diana this a.m. but
it was pretty cold work. Shopped a little this noon.
Ned stopped & so did Edith later. J.G. is in Albany. Tonight is our
pedro Club at Miss
Collings. I went with the MacArthurs and Mr.
Fiske. Played with
Mr. Bristol (!) and we started off finely 34 - 36 - 38 - 47
! and then - 5 - which hoodooed us & we lost count. I think it
is a fine game however.
1895.
