" rowed and Tom smoked & I talked to them. Between big and little Otter we met Ned & Ralph, coming over for me - & we all went over to "the store" and had "Jersey ice cream" &c. When we got to camp, we found the Hughes had their tent up and were almost settled - but 'way out on the point. Ralph had a big bonfire in the evening and burnt up "Isabel Gilhooley" a canoe he found. It was a very pretty fire & we all enjoyed it - sitting around, well wrapped up and toasting our stockinged feet - for the nights are cold. This was my first night sleeping out doors. The sensation is delightful - well wrapped up in blankets & the bright tent above & the wood smells about - but I did not July 28 Sunday succeed in sleeping very well till morning which made us rather late. It was a beautiful morning, with a fresh breeze - and after our breakfast (I made coffee &c.) We dressed & started to get the girls & bring them to church on big Otter Island. I rowed & took a snap at the camp as we got off towards Otter. It was very rough over beyond - in the channel - & the waves
