entertained by Mrs. D. and some butter scotch & Mr. D. & later Charlotte & later still Frank & Hamilton, who ar- rived on their wheels from Brighton. We talked & discussed book-plates & blue prints (I saw the Michigan ones again) & finally we left - at 6:30. It had begun to sprinkle again by then. I staid right on the car & stopped at Mary's a minute & she walked part way home with me. Then had to run 'cause it rained. Got a letter from Helen Davis to-day. Read tonight & got supper = Mushrooms from our back yard! Sept. 30 Monday Very cold. Busy. Felt much better than yesterday. Mary caught up with me tonight (I went home early) and I rode with her into her back yard where we ate grapes till Nellie came out for us. Then we went in & sat by the fire & ate more and crackers, also. I had my dress tried on. In the evening sewed & Papa read. Oct. 1. Tuesday. Lovely day. Ideal for "wheeling". Met Wm returning from the park with 3 chestnut & 8 hickory nuts & he divided & we rode down together. Shopped a little
