had been asleep in it and now awoke. Everyone who saw it smiled
& the funny p.o clerk took up his collection in the tin pail
& we sang & started for home. Ned
& I decided to go to Viamede
to dinner & Mary
went back in our boat. Tomsail paddling
alone. Had a pretty good dinner and I took a "group" on the front steps.
Then
Tom insisted on taking one with me in
& then Ned & I climbed up on
the ice house roof and I took Viamede from there. Then Tom & "Jim
" and we 5 girls made a pilgrimage to the
top of Mt. Julien, Mary & I scrambling up ahead - scaring cows &
geese & birds & climbing fences. The top was a great place,
with several lovely views, from the southwest side we could see 'way
across Stony & Clear
Lakes - with many islands in between. We had quite
& jolly time on top. Eating chocolates & talking & I read a
story aloud from
Scribner's. Took Charlotte,Helen &
Ned as "The 3 graces" &c.
& we climbed away down again Tom, Mary & I took
hold of hands & ran down the hill and to the wood pile on the
dock - Where they got bark while I photographed them un- awares.
Then Mr. Struthers went sailing.
