cot - and did - but got no sleep. I felt as tho' there was a partial maniac in the room behind me and I knew Auntie's dead body lay in the room in front of me. And just before dawn is such an awful hour. Sure enough, Ed began to rave again & shake his arms & feet & call me & talk incoherently about Nina & what I must say to her - for- getting that she must not see me & know I was there. It was awful. Finally he was able to get up and walk around (he was too weak to drink water some of the time) and I felt queer. It began to get light and I went out and walked up & down the street - but it was cold. Finally Ed sat down in the kitchen with me and talked. He began to mention Auntie for the first time. Said he had done everything he could for her.&c &
