on board - with a black valet "Israel" who was constantly looking for things in an immense telescope bag. There was a nice looking youngish woman with a little girl - and an older woman (also nice looking) with a daughter returning from school. Also some youths returning. One very polite one who wanted to know if the window bothered me, etc etc. We were a little bit late in arriving (were due at 10:30) Got weighed. I weigh 123 (gained 2) and Mama 132 (gained 1) We got right on our car & Mr. Behn got on it down town - bubbling over with welcomes & eulogies for Papa. Papa came down to the car & he & Mr. B carried our satchels. Mrs. Behn stood on the steps & said "Welcome Home!" Theo was in the yard with two bottles of phosphate off of the ice and the house and piazza were adorned with boquets. It was all very nice. We drank our phos- phate and had a little chat with Papa - who had been a model housekeeper - & unpacked somewhat and at last went to bed (12:30 or so!)
