Another disagreeable, doubtful day. Was to take Helen Davis' pictures (with her bicycle)
today but it was pretty cloudy. I trimmed (& made) a hat after
dinner & then went over to Davis'
with my camera. Rode down with
Gertrude Clark - who has a new bicycle - ! - etc. - !
Took Helen's picture (very
doubtfully) Chatted with Mr. Davis
- looked over berries &c.&c. till seven
- when Charlotte came & we had
supper & she told us how Mean Mr. Stowell wouldn't let her go Wednesday
&c.&c. & several "anecdotes" about him. Poor tired girls! We sat on the steps talking to
Mrs. Crosby &c.&c. till nearly 9:30 -
when
Charlotte saw me to the car. Such
crowds in the streets! - Used up tonight!
July 21. Sunday.
A very hot languid day - tho' we did have one or two showers. Read
wrote, cut scraps. Talked to Mary
(she came up this p.m.) Made salad - ate. &c. all day. Edith expected us down but we simply couldnot go! I never knew, seems to me - such a long
period of very disagreeable weather.
