The car & came home 9:15 or so. Helen told
Mary & me all about her dissecting
operations &c., coming home - and a woman looked out of the
window & sang to herself - much to the amusement of the girls. Did not
sleep well, for some reason - perhaps Miss Whipple's
strong coffee and woke up early. Rode to
Jun. 13 Thurs
the office & back, however - & was busy there, as usual.
To-night we were invited to Lura's & I
went with
Mary & Nellie MacArthur. We took the car right around & found
the girls all sitting on the steps (except the Rogers, who are always late.) Mary & I were both about used up, but I enjoyed
myself. Charlotte was there. We
played Euchre - had carnations &c. & the prizes were
a beautiful Dresden candlestick (which Mary got.) & a pretty fan (Hattie
Arnold). Had ice cream, cake & coffee & were late
going home - the 11:45 car from down town!
Jun 14. Friday
Lovely day - cooler. Went to Mrs. Woodford's
with waists this a.m. & then rode on up to
Chapins for a little chat with Mrs. C. , Cad &
Francie (who has a new "Hartford"
wheel) on the front steps. Saw the kittens, new shirt
waists, etc.etc. Got down on time for another hard day's work and tonight
was reclining on the new divan reading Scribner's when
