Feb. 9 Sun.
Snowed all day - 12 inches in 24 hours. Was "sick a-bed" all day,
but got up to breakfast. Then lay on the couch in front of the fire
& read "Barry Lyndon" which I think is fine.
Ned came up right after dinner and told her
experience with the Dr. &c.
(She moved into
No. 87 yesterday.) After dark we four & Ned
sat about in the firelight while the storm raged outside &
Mama recited "Snowbound"
& PapaEmerson's "Snow Storm" &c. & we talked
& talked a long long time. Then we had lunch & snow cream &
sat by the fire some more - till Ned
sallied forth into the storm (Claude
had gone earlier) & I read again.
Feb. 10. Mon.
Lovely white day - deep snow and good sleighing. Shopped this noon
& went up to our building. & saw our rooms again. Made appointment
with
Dr. Scranton he "exhibited" my teeth to
another Dr. Went shopping again with Ned at 5 o'clock. After supper I went down to her room
& helped her hang a few pictures. Edith & Freddie came for
a little while and F. told about
her N.Y. trip. Bad dreams tonight.
Feb. 11. Tuesday
"We" cleared out JG's old desk
today. Such a job! Saw Mary this noon - & Ned. They were up one by one.
Mrs. Chapin & Mrs.
Hitchock called tonight just before supper. I finished
Barry Lyndon
which I consider a very fine character study. Enjoyed it much.
