Nov. 17. Sun.
Pleasant day. Got up very late. Rose from breakfast table at
10:35(!) and after I'd gotten thro' in the kitchen I took some
pictures - interiors - to use up my roll of film. Then I got out Diana & went down for Mary - but she tho't it was too windy to
ride. Kept me there quite awhile. I rode out to the park alone - a little
after noon and was almost the only soul there. Rode way round the
circle, stopping at the big tree at the end (4 1/2 m. from home) to
clean my tires of mud & eat some chestnuts. Also stopped at the
river seat. Everything was sere & bare & brown - but delightful.
Got back just in good time for dinner and afterwards - about 4:30 -
walked down to Ned's - she goes to
N.Y. tonight for a little Gillis-trip. It was cold I had tea with
Edith& Ned & Frank Davis
came afterward. We packed & joked & talked & went to the
9:20 train - where we saw
Mr. Bruff - & Sam Griswold - &
where
Frederika came the last minute to help
see
Helen off. Frank
came home with me.
